- Keep watching this spot for stuff to come.

- On Friday 11/14/2025 we "winterized" the Club.

That basically entailed closing up and securing the Education Center.

So that building is now off limits until spring.

Everything thing else that you had access to is still available

- No more monthly meetings until spring 2026.

We will update the event schedule above when we set the date and time.

- The piles of fill that you will encounter around the trap area hopefully will

soon be spread out between the trap house and the current shooting line. The fill was free from

Hebert Construction Company of Iron River, MI. They were the ones who worked on the culvert site

about 1/2 mile south of our driveway. Ruotsala Construction helped coordinate getting the fill to our property.

- Lock combinations have been changed to the 2025 combinations.

(Go to the Join/Renew Page for info on how to use the Range gate lock.)

The new 5 Stand Sporting Clays Range LAST DAY of this season

New 5 Stand Sporting Clays Range at Superior Range Sportsman’s Club  Now Open

The Superior Range Sportsman’s Club, on Black River Road, has just completed a new 5 Stand Sporting Clays range that is now open to the public. According to club secretary and chairman of the 5 Stand construction team, Gary Lowe, participation in trap shooting has fallen over recent years at our club and 5 Stand offers a new shotgun shooting opportunity for the community.

The club applied for a Pitman Robertson matching grant to build the 5 Stand Sporting Clays range. The Michigan DNR administered this grant in support of shooting club improvements in the state.  Our grant application was handled by the MI Department of Natural Resources and the club was ultimately awarded $10,000.  Work began last year.

We have 2 existing trap ranges that will be used for the 5 Stand and purchased 6 more traps for the range.  The club built 6 moveable trap trailers, 5 shooting stands, and we have a new wireless remote-control system for all 8 traps.  5-stand is a compact version of regular sporting clays. Instead of stations scattered across several acres, the stations for 5-stand are lined up next to each other.

Shooting is open to the public and all are encouraged to come out to try the course.  Each round of 5 Stand offers 25 birds and includes all types of aerial targets and rabbit clay targets.  Shooters need to bring their own ammunition and shotguns. There is no better way to sharpen a bird hunters’ skills than shooting clay targets that realistically resemble a pheasant, duck, or other upland birds in flight.  We can guarantee a fun time and great experience for both seasoned shooters and beginners.

Check the Superior Range Sportsman’s Club website for any updates.  www.superiorrangesportsmansclub.org. Our club is a not-for-profit organization with a mission to serve the members and public with the best shooting environment in the area.
